Metz Retires After 41-Year, Life-Long Insurance Career

On June 10, 2016, Shelby Metz will bring to a close her 41-year, life-long insurance career with Mutual Benefit Group (MBG). She began her employment with MBG in 1974 immediately following her graduation from Huntingdon Area High School, Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. Her first position with MBG was filing for the Personal Lines Department. Following that she moved into cancelling homeowner policies before joining the Direct Bill Accounting Department, where the majority of her MBG career has transpired.

Metz has been an active member of local theater, performing in over 40 shows with the Playhouse at McConnellstown, McConnellstown, Pennsylvania, since 1983. Upon retirement, Metz looks forward to having more time to devote to acting. The additional time will provide the opportunity for adding more shows to her schedule and will also allow her to become more involved with the production aspects of theater. Metz is looking forward to performing in her first show at The Iron Bridge Dinner Theatre, Tyrone, Pennsylvania, in August.

A life-long resident of Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, Metz and husband Mike currently reside in Petersburg, Pennsylvania. They are the parents of daughter Heather, son Luke, and dog Mini. The couple has two grandsons, Marlin and Caleb, whose parents are daughter Heather and her husband, Barry Weaver.
