Summary of Duties

Mutual Benefit Group has one opening for an Accountant I, II, or III; candidate’s placement will be determined by his or her qualifications.

The Accountant’s primary responsibility is for MBG’s billing system which will involve communicating and collaborating with other internal departments and outside vendors to ensure MBG’s billing system is providing our customers with relevant and accurate payment options.  In addition, the Accountant will be responsible for ensuring all billing related transactions are properly reflected in the financial statements.  Other specific duties will include preparing, ensuing the accuracy of, and filing assigned portions of financial statement.

Necessary Qualifications

Applicants for the Accountant position at any level must have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and should be able to successfully collaborate with others to jointly develop recommendations and possess proficient skills in the following areas: internal relations, communication (both written and verbal), teamwork, computer, analytical and problem-solving skills and demonstrated time management, project management and organizational skills.

Accountant I – Minimum of one-year experience in a related position(s).  CPA certification preferred or pursuing. 

Accountant II – Minimum of three-years’ experience in related position(s). CPA certification preferred.  Accountant II must possess proficiency in producing, interpreting, analyzing and reporting financial information and proficient computer skills with knowledge of various computer software packages related to the production and reporting of financial data.  This position demonstrates a basic understanding of complex areas such as reinsurance, loss reserving, investments, pension, and deferred and federal tax accounting.

Accountant III – Minimum of ten-years’ experience in related position(s).  CPA certification preferred.  In addition to the qualifications for Accountant II, the Accountant III must possess a solid understanding to complete all areas of the financial statements and demonstrates a deep understanding of complex insurance accounting topics, such as reinsurance, loss reserving, investments, pension, and deferred and federal tax accounting.
