Director of Agency Management
Summary of Duties
The director of agency management oversees and directs management and supervision of the marketing division; leads the MBG field sales staff to promote growth and profitability; manages appointment and termination of agent processes; directs the long-range planning process for the marketing strategic business unit for the profitable development of commercial and personal books of business and accomplishes strategic objectives of the business unit. This home office position directs all activities, through appropriate management and supervisory of personnel, of the marketing business unit; works closely with strategic planning team members and/or division managers to ensure coordination and implementation of marketing plans throughout the Company; and projects a positive public image for the Company through interaction with industry groups.
The expectation of this position is to be located at the corporate home office in Huntingdon and includes traveling with or without field staff visiting agency locations at least 30% of the time.
The objectives and plans in these areas of strategic importance will be aligned with the business purpose of acquiring, growing, and retaining customers at a profit.
Applicants must possess proficient interpersonal relations and communications skills (both written and verbal); demonstrated management, leadership, and supervisory skills sufficient to oversee a group of employees; knowledge of all personal and commercial lines of insurance, pricing, and risk selection and thorough understanding of all financial reports that impact personal and commercial lines underwriting; project management, organizational skills sufficient to track and organize workload; demonstrated experience in setting schedules and meeting deadlines; strong analytical and problem solving skills; capacity to work well independently; minimum of ten years’ experience in related position(s) in the property/casualty insurance industry; prior technical underwriting experience preferred; Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation a plus; and a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent education and experience combination.
