Summary of Duties
The maintenance technician, under general supervision, performs a wide variety of custodial and building and maintenance repair duties in order to provide a clean, orderly and safe environment. Specific duties include troubleshoots and repairs minor plumbing and electrical problems; assists with inspection and analysis of HVAC systems and their components for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending solutions; performs carpentry repairs; ensures proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials; performs exterior facility maintenance; maintains building security; responds to emergency alarm calls; performs interior facility maintenance as needed; maintains a safe work environment; delivers office supplies to departments as needed; assists with unloading, carrying or lifting supplies, deliveries, etc. as needed; and performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
Applicants must possess a general equivalency or high school diploma; minimum of two years’ HVAC experience working with HVAC equipment; minimum of two years’ experience in maintenance and painting, preferably at a contractor level of familiarity OR experience in various technical trades; sound understanding of using all types of repair tools; basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills; interpersonal relations and communications skills; strong customer service orientation; demonstrated ability to correctly and safely lift, hold, carry, and push objects weighing 80 – 100 pounds; active driver’s license with clear driving record; ability to work on scaffolding and ladders; basic proficiency with electricity and plumbing; and ability to operate equipment and tools related to maintenance technician position.
