PC and Network Technician I
Summary of Duties
The PC and Network Technician I maintains computer systems, troubleshoots, and sets up equipment. It is the initial tier among three that entail responsibilities with both PCs and network issues according to a restricted authority level. Specific duties include maintains, analyzes, troubleshoots, and repairs computer systems, hardware, and computer peripherals; works with PC and network technician II, III, network administrator, and/or cloud/systems administrator on lower-level network issues; builds personal computers and places them in production; provides daily PC and peripheral customer service to in-house employees; upgrades and replaces PC hardware and software; sets up new users, including establishing rights, security, and system groups; prepares network cabling; completes documentation; and performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned or directed.
Incumbents within this tier of PC and network technician will remain at this level until they would show proficiency within its authority level and assigned areas of specialty. It is anticipated that most employees could require up to two years at this level before having been exposed to the variety of information to prepare them for advancement to level II. Moreover, the incumbent is expected to successfully assume progressively responsible networking duties.
Applicants must possess minimum of two years’ directly related experience; high school diploma or general equivalency; proficient interpersonal relations and communications skills; analytical and problem solving abilities; proficient typing skills; moderate knowledge of personal computer architecture, hardware, and software; moderate knowledge of Windows operating systems; basic knowledge of MBG networking systems; capacity to work well independently; and organizational and time management skills. Holding A+ and Net+ certifications or equivalent experience in both is preferred.
