Summary of Duties
The project leader is responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing key projects for the Information Services Department. Specific duties include acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third party contractors or consultants; providing consulting and analytical support to projects as needed/requested by management; ensuring project’s objectives and quality are maintained through project life-cycle while meeting deadlines and staying within budget; identifying, managing, and minimizing risks; serving as a liaison to the MBG business community to understand project prioritization and translate requirements; communicating Information Services status on projects; managing user expectations; evaluating operational systems and recommending improvements; making formal presentations; performing duties with minimal direction and supervision; and performing other miscellaneous duties as assigned or directed.
Applicants must possess a firm grasp on business functions, processes, and operations; excellent planning, project management, leadership, and organizational skills; demonstrated record of taking strong ownership and accountability; ability to develop alternate solutions to problems and to recognize areas where the expected benefit does not justify the cost of automation; demonstrated record of initiative, adaptability, and real-time decision making; ability to establish and nurture positive working relationships with peers, management and business partners; demonstrated ability to effectively accomplish tasks through others; advance presentation and facilitation skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously involving various departments and level of employees; knowledge of systems development life-cycle methodology and an ability to work effectively within that framework; knowledge of technologies and their potential capabilities for solving business problems; ability to make independent judgments and use own discretion in carrying out responsibilities; proficient interpersonal relations and communications skills (both written and verbal); strong customer service orientation; keen attention to detail; minimum of Bachelor’s degree and 7-10 years’ direct experience, OR Associate’s degree or certificate in a directly related field AND 10 years’ direct experience required; insurance experience as an IT Project Lead/Manager preferred.
