Product Manager

JOB SUMMARY
The Product Manager is an individual contributor role responsible for supporting the strategic development, management, and performance of MBG's commercial lines products, including Businessowners (BOP), Workers' Compensation, Commercial Auto, Property, General Liability, and Umbrella. This individual will work closely with underwriting, actuarial, claims, technology, and distribution partners to ensure profitability, product competitiveness, and compliance. This role requires deep experience in commercial lines product management, with a strong understanding of state filings, bureau relationships, pricing, and market dynamics.
This position is open to onsite, hybrid, and remote candidates.
SPECIFIC Duties include:
- Support the development and execution of product strategies for MBG's commercial lines portfolio and conduct market research to identify market trends and opportunities, competitive positioning, and emerging risks to inform product innovation.
- Monitor and report on product performance and analyze product results to recommend modifications.
- Prepare and coordinate product filings with state insurance departments and regulatory bodies, including ISO/Verisk, NCCI and PCRB. Monitor and report on regulatory developments impacting commercial lines products.
- Partner with actuarial to establish rate adequacy, permissible loss ratios, and segmentation strategies.
- Parner with underwriting to design appetite guides, risk selection criteria, and training materials.
- Partner with other functional areas to ensure end-to-end product success.
- Drive digital enablement of products and explore partnerships with InsurTech vendors.
- Other miscellaneous duties as assigned or directed.
CANDIDATES MUST POSSESS:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Actuarial Science or related field and 7+ years of commercial lines product management and/or underwriting experience with a P&C carrier, or equivalent education and experience combination.
- Strong understanding of commercial lines markets, regulatory environment, and bureau processes.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights.
- Familiarity with policy administration systems, rating platforms, and digital distribution tools.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and project management skills.
- Ability to influence across functions and work effectively with agents, regulators, and senior leadership.
