Mutual Benefit donates 100k+ to Huntingdon County United Way
Mutual Benefit Group (MBG) has demonstrated their commitment to Huntingdon County, contributing more than $100,851 to Huntingdon County United Way over the past year through employee giving, corporate support, and signature fundraising events.
MBG led the #1 workplace campaign in Huntingdon County, fueled by exceptional employee participation, a strong match program and innovative incentives that inspire generosity across the organization. Their involvement in the Charity Masters, the 2025 MBG Golf Classic, Beach Raffle, Night at the Races, BBQ Bonanza support and ongoing volunteer engagement helped strengthen services and stabilize vital programs across the country.
For the second year in a row, MBG is also offering a Paid Time Off (PTO) Day incentives for employees who donate $260 or more, in addition to matching contributions - a program that has proven to be both highly effective and widely celebrated among staff. Along with the PTO, the company has agreed to match the donations of the employees.
MBG President/CEO Gary Williams shared:
"MBG is a mutual insurance company guided by integrity, dependability and community. I expect and encourage every employee to live out these values - and I want them to see that leadership does the same. Offering PTO in return for donations is a win-win for our employees, our community and what MBG stands for".
Huntingdon County United Way Executive Director Rachelle Hopsicker praised MBG's leadership and its ripple effect across the community:
"Mutual Benefit Group continues to set the standard for what corporate community leadership looks like. Their PTO-for-giving incentive doesn't just motivate employees - it creates a culture of generosity that ripples across Huntingdon County. When one organization shows this kind of commitment, others take notice. Programs like this have a powerful impact on the United Way's ability to meet rising community needs, and we hope other local businesses will join MBG in encouraging and celebrating philanthropy in their workplaces".
Impact Made Possible Through MBG's Support
Thanks to MBG's generosity, the United Way was able to:
- Fully Fund all Partner Agencies
- Provide Support to Affiliate Agencies
- Ensure essential community programs remain open and accessible
- Deliver direct aid to children, families, seniors and individuals in crisis
MBG's commitment also expanded the reach of the United We Care Closet, which provides food, hygiene supplies, cleaning products, baby items and emergency fuel support to families across the country.
Mutual Benefit Group generously provided dedicated storage space at its Fisher Building, allowing United Way to organize and distribute supplies efficiently to all 20 partner agencies. Recently, MBG employees delivered a full carload of essential hygiene and household items - reinforcing their ongoing commitment to meeting growing community needs.
Williams shared why this initiative matters so deeply to MBG's mission:
"In many ways, insurance and the United Way have a lot in common. Both connect capabilities, resources, and people to help others through difficult and challenging times. We do this work hoping it's never needed - yet the reality is, our community routinely relies on these services for essentials like food, heat and shelter".
A Model for Other Local Businesses
With rising needs in the areas of food insecurity, transportation, housing instability, and emergency assistance, MBG's leadership offers a powerful example for other local employers seeking ways to encourage giving and support their community.
Programs like MBG's PTO-giving incentive demonstrate that when workplaces invest in philanthropy, employee morale grows, impact deepens and their entire community benefits.
