Vice President – Sales

JOB SUMMARY

The Vice President - Sales is a key member of the leadership team at Mutual Benefit Group (MBG), responsible for developing and executing sales strategies that drive profitable growth across both Personal Lines (PL) and Commercial Lines (CL). This role partners closely with MBG's network of independent agents to deepen relationships, expand distribution opportunities, and ensure MBG is positioned as a carrier of choice in its core markets.

The ideal candidate is a strategic sales leader with strong insurance industry expertise, demonstrated success in building agent partnerships, and a proven track record of delivering top-line growth while maintaining underwriting discipline and alignment with corporate objectives.

key responsibilities include:
  • Serve as primary executive sponsor for MBG's independent agent network, ensuring consistent engagement, trust, and collaboration.
  • Identify, recruit, and onboard new high-performing agency partners in target geographies.
  • Develop and lead sales strategies to achieve annual premium growth for both PL and CL. 
  • Partner with Underwriting and Product teams to drive profitable business mix and achieve combined ration targets.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of sales, marketing, and agency management professionals. 
  • Foster a high-performance culture aligned with MBG's mission and values.
  • Monitor competitor activity, distribution trends, and regional opportunities to inform sales strategy.
  • Provide input into new product development, pricing, and appetite adjustments based on market feedback.
CANDIDATES MUST POSSESS:
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in P&C insurance, with strong knowledge of both Personal and Commercial Lines distribution.
  • Demonstrated success in managing independent agent relationships and delivering profitable growth.
  • Strong business acumen, including familiarity with underwriting, claims, and financial performance metrics.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to execute tactically.
  • Willingness to travel across PA and MD (50%).
